Snapshots of the Past Historic Wall Art L sku-13288170649

This Snapshots of the Past Wall Art print shows staff officers at Army of Potomac headquarters in April 1863. It is a Black, size L reproduction measuring 16" x 20". The company restores historical maps, photos and prints from Library of Congress archives for home decor. Founded in 2001, it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints.

Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, as well as tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008. Lithography, invented in 1796, made inexpensive mass production of poster prints possible.

In 1989, the Library of Congress began the American Memory pilot project, which laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program launched in 1995. That program digitizes selected collections emphasizing the complexity of American cultural history.

The company's reproductions use fine-art and archival papers; prints made with archival paper and pigmented inks can last a lifetime and be passed down. Its range also includes old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco. Retro-style posters can be displayed at home, in a study or at work, or given as gifts.
