Snapshots of the Past Wall Art L | sku-13303605671

Snapshots of the Past Wall Art, Black, size L, sku-13303605671, UPC 468148284742. This 16" x 20" historic print shows scenes related to the Soga family: a warrior on horseback with retainers leading and following him. The company makes reproductions of historical maps, photos and prints restored from Library of Congress archives.

Founded in 2001, it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers and tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project in 2008. Lithography, invented in 1796, made inexpensive mass production of prints possible.

The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; that project laid the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections concerning American cultural history. The reproductions use fine-art and archival paper, and prints made with archival paper and pigmented inks can last a lifetime and be passed down.

Other examples include old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco. The prints can be displayed at home, in a study or at work, or given as gifts.
