Snapshots of the Past Wall Art Print L sku-13469912781

Snapshots of the Past Wall Art, sku-13469912781, UPC 469732324776, is listed in Black, size L. This 18" x 24" reproduction shows the ruins of a paper mill near the Richmond & Petersburg RR Depot in Richmond, Virginia, in 1865. The company restores historical maps, photographs and prints from Library of Congress archives for home display.

Founded in 2001, it says it was the first to offer Library of Congress images as fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, as well as tens of thousands of online customers; it was selected as a vendor for the 2008 White House redecoration project. Lithography, invented in 1796, enabled inexpensive mass production of prints.

The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989, laying the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections on American cultural history. The reproduction uses archival paper and pigmented inks intended to last for generations.
