Founded in 2001, it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers and tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project in 2008. Lithography was invented in 1796, making inexpensive mass production of prints possible.

A 1989 Library of Congress pilot project called American Memory laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections on American cultural history. The reproductions use archival paper and pigmented inks intended to last for generations. The range also includes old holiday posters and early aerial views of cities.
