Prints made with archival paper and pigmented inks are intended to last for generations. Founded in 2001, Snapshots of the Past says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, as well as tens of thousands of internet customers.

It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008. Lithography, a technique that enabled inexpensive mass production of prints, was invented in 1796. The Library of Congress launched its American Memory pilot in 1989, laying the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections emphasizing the complexity of American cultural heritage.

The company's other print subjects include old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco. Its retro-style posters can be displayed at home, in a study or at work, or given as gifts.
