Snapshots of the Past makes reproductions from Library of Congress archives using fine-art and archival papers; prints made with archival paper and pigmented inks are intended to last for generations. Founded in 2001, the company says it was the first to offer Library of Congress images as fine-art reproduction prints.

Its buyers have included over 200 bookstores and other retailers and tens of thousands of online customers. It was selected as a vendor for a White House redecoration project in 2008. Lithography was invented in 1796, making inexpensive mass-produced prints possible.

The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; it laid the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 to digitize selected collections on American cultural history. The company's catalog also includes historical maps, photographs, holiday posters and early aerial city views. SKU sku-13273471934; UPC 462987748212.
