The company reproduces historical maps, photographs and prints restored from Library of Congress archives, using archival paper and pigmented inks intended to last for generations. Founded in 2001, it says it was the first to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproductions.

Its buyers have included over 200 bookstores and other retailers and tens of thousands of internet customers. The company was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project in 2008. Lithography, a technique that enabled inexpensive mass production of prints, was invented in 1796.

The Library of Congress launched its American Memory pilot in 1989, laying the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections concerning American cultural heritage. Other prints in the range include old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco.

The retro-style prints can be displayed at home or work or given as gifts.
