The company restores historical maps, photographs and prints from Library of Congress archives and uses archival paper and pigmented inks. Founded in 2001, it says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as fine-art reproduction prints.

Its buyers have included over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of online customers; it was selected as a vendor for the 2008 White House redecoration project. Lithography was invented in 1796, enabling inexpensive mass-produced prints.

The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot in 1989, and the National Digital Library Program began in 1995 to digitize selected collections about American cultural heritage. The company's range also includes holiday posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco for display at home or work or as gifts.
