The company restores historical maps, photographs and prints from Library of Congress archives and produces reproductions on archival paper with pigmented inks.

Founded in 2001, Snapshots of the Past was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers have included over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the 2008 White House redecoration project.

Lithography, invented in 1796, enabled inexpensive mass production of prints. The Library of Congress launched its American Memory pilot in 1989; it laid the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections on American cultural history. Archival paper and pigmented inks are intended to let prints last for generations.

The brand also offers vintage posters, including holiday subjects and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco, for display or gifting. SKU sku-13277203787; UPC 466251350361.
