Founded in 2001, it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers and tens of thousands of internet customers. The company was selected as a vendor for the 2008 White House redecoration project. Lithography was invented in 1796 and enabled inexpensive mass production of prints.

In 1989, the Library of Congress started its American Memory pilot project, laying the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995. That program digitizes selected collections emphasizing the complexity of American cultural heritage. The reproductions use fine-art and archival paper with pigmented inks, intended to last a lifetime and be passed down.

The wider range includes old holiday posters, early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco, and retro-style prints for display or gifts.
