The source describes lithography, invented in 1796, as a printing technique that enabled inexpensive mass production of posters. A Library of Congress pilot project called American Memory began in 1989 and laid the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections emphasizing the complexity of American cultural heritage.

The reproductions use fine-art archival paper and pigmented inks intended to last for generations. The company's range also includes old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco. The prints are offered for display at home, in a study or at work, or as gifts.
