Snapshots of the Past Historic Wall Art L sku-13242613394

Snapshots of the Past Wall Art, sku-13242613394, UPC 464156580272, is a Black print in size L. The 16" x 20" historic image shows hospital stewards of the 2d Division, 9th Corps, in front of tents at Petersburg, Va. The company restores archival maps, photos and prints from the Library of Congress as home decor reproductions.

Founded in 2001, Snapshots of the Past says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, as well as tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008.

Lithography, invented in 1796, helped make inexpensive mass-produced poster prints possible. The Library of Congress launched its American Memory pilot project in 1989; it laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections concerned with American cultural history. The reproductions use fine-art and archival paper and pigmented inks.

Prints made with archival paper and pigmented inks can last a lifetime and be passed down through generations. The range includes old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco. Retro-style posters can be displayed at home or work or given as gifts.
