No rating yet(0 ratings)Snapshots of the Past offers a reproduction of “Ouverture des Etats-généraux á Versailles (5 Mai 1789),” painted by Couder, engraved by Prudhomme and drawn by Landoz, with digraphe and pantographe-gavard credited in the title. The print measures 16" x 20". The company restores historical maps, photos and prints from Library of Congress archives for home decor.
Founded in 2001, it says it was the first to offer Library of Congress images as fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers and tens of thousands of online customers; it was selected as a vendor for the 2008 White House redecoration project. Lithography was invented in 1796 and enabled inexpensive mass production of prints.
The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989, laying the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections on American cultural history. The reproductions use archival paper and pigmented inks intended to last for generations.
The range includes old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco. These prints are offered for display at home or work and as gifts. Wall Art; Black; size L; UPC 462769116086; sku-13264409426.
