Snapshots of the Past Historic Wall Art L sku-13252523427

Snapshots of the Past Wall Art, size L, color Black, sku-13252523427, UPC 463842281936. This 16 x 20 historic print shows Othniel Charles Marsh (1831-1899), a professor, in a head-and-shoulders portrait facing right. The company makes reproductions of historical maps, photos and prints restored from Library of Congress archives.

Founded in 2001, it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of online customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008. Lithography, invented in 1796, helped make mass-produced prints inexpensive.

The Library of Congress launched its American Memory pilot project in 1989; it laid the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections concerning American cultural heritage. The reproductions use archival paper and pigmented inks.

The range includes old holiday posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco for display or gifts.
