Snapshots of the Past Wall Art, size L in Black, sku-13263724664; UPC 463932791482. This 16 x 20 historic print shows a full-length portrait of Oliver Murray, Ned N. Holmes and Johnnie Fraction seated on a jeep during Navy service on Guam. Snapshots of the Past makes reproductions of historical maps, photographs and prints restored from Library of Congress archives.

Founded in 2001, the company says it was the first to offer Library of Congress images as fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of online customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project in 2008.

Lithography, a technique that enabled inexpensive mass production of prints, was invented in 1796. The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; it laid the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections documenting American cultural history. The reproductions use fine-art archival paper.

The range includes old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters, as well as early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco. The prints are offered for display at home or work and as gifts.
