No rating yet(0 ratings)Snapshots of the Past Wall Art, sku-13643856237, is a Black print in size L, UPC 465875680144. The 16 x 20 historic print depicts Minnie Carpenter, described as the oldest girl at House 53, Loray Mill, in Gastonia, N.C. She worked as a spinner on four sides and earned fifty cents for a 10-hour day; a younger girl worked irregularly.
Snapshots of the Past reproduces historical maps, photos and prints from Library of Congress archives. Founded in 2001, it says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of online customers.
It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project in 2008. Lithography, invented in 1796, made inexpensive mass-produced poster prints possible. The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; it laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections emphasizing American cultural history.
The reproductions use archival paper and pigmented inks intended to last for generations. The range also includes old holiday posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco for display at home or work, or as gifts.
