Founded in 2001, it says it was the first to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008. Lithography, invented in 1796, enabled inexpensive mass production of poster prints.

A Library of Congress pilot called American Memory began in 1989 and laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995. That program digitizes selected Library collections focused on the complexity of American cultural heritage. The reproductions use fine-art and archival papers and pigmented inks intended to last for generations.

The range also includes old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters, early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco, and retro-style prints for homes, studies or workplaces. The prints can also be given as gifts.
