Snapshots of the Past Historic Wall Art L sku-13234600782

Snapshots of the Past Wall Art in Black, size L (sku-13234600782; UPC 465492381301). This 16" x 20" historic print shows Mt. Washington from Mt. Wildcat in the White Mountains. The company restores historical maps, photographs and prints from the Library of Congress archives.

Founded in 2001, it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the 2008 White House redecoration project. Lithography, invented in 1796, made inexpensive mass-produced poster prints possible.

The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; that project laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections emphasizing the complexity of American cultural heritage. The prints use fine-art and archival paper from established industry brands.

Archival paper and pigmented inks are intended to help prints last for generations. The collection also includes old holiday posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco, for display at home or work or as gifts.
