Snapshots of the Past Wall Art, size L, color Black, SKU sku-13228969094, UPC 467079804272. This 16 x 20 inch historic print reproduces a full-length family portrait titled [Mrs. Gardener and her children]. The company makes reproductions of historical maps, photographs and prints restored from Library of Congress archives for home decor.

Founded in 2001, it describes itself as the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers have included over 200 bookstores and other retailers and tens of thousands of online customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008.

The listing also describes the development of inexpensive mass-produced posters through printing techniques such as lithography, invented in 1796. In 1989, the Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project, which laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program launched in 1995.

That program digitizes selected Library collections emphasizing the complexity of American cultural history. The reproductions use fine-art and archival paper; prints made with archival paper and pigmented inks are intended to last a lifetime and be passed down.

The range includes old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters, as well as early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco. The listing suggests these retro-style posters for a home, study or workplace, or as gifts.
