Snapshots of the Past Vintage Wall Art L sku-13269213975

Snapshots of the Past Wall Art, size L, in Black (sku-13269213975; UPC 464316161877) is a 16" x 20" historic print of modern art edited by J.M. Bowles. The company's reproductions draw on historical maps, photographs and prints from the Library of Congress archives.

Founded in 2001, Snapshots of the Past was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of online customers. The company was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008.

Lithography, invented in 1796, made inexpensive mass-produced poster prints possible. The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; that project laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections focused on American cultural heritage.

The reproductions use fine-art and archival paper; prints made with archival paper and pigmented inks are intended to last for generations. The collection includes holiday posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco for display at home or work or as gifts.
