Snapshots of the Past Wall Art L sku-13959260489 Print

Snapshots of the Past Wall Art, SKU sku-13959260489, UPC 464772418997, is a Black, size L reproduction print measuring 16" x 20". The image shows Mickey Mantle holding a football as his sons try to wrest it from him; the title credits Thomas R. Koeniges. The company reproduces historical maps, photos and prints from the Library of Congress archives on fine-art, archival paper with pigmented inks.

Founded in 2001, Snapshots of the Past says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of online customers. It was selected as a vendor for the 2008 White House redecoration project.

Lithography was invented in 1796 and enabled inexpensive mass production of prints. The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot in 1989; it laid the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections concerning American cultural history.

The brand suggests vintage Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters, as well as early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco, for homes, studies, workplaces or gifts. The archival materials are intended to help the prints last for generations.
