Snapshots of the Past Wall Art L sku-13261460417 print

Snapshots of the Past Wall Art is a Black, size L reproduction print of Beaurain's map ornament showing Mars watching Fame unfurl a detailed map of New York and Pennsylvania. The print measures 16" x 20". The company's historical maps, photos, and prints are home decor reproductions restored from Library of Congress archives.

Founded in 2001, Snapshots of the Past was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers have included over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008.

Lithography, a technique that enabled inexpensive mass production of prints, was invented in 1796. The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; it laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections emphasizing the complexity of American cultural heritage.

The reproductions use archival paper and pigmented inks intended to last for generations. The range also includes old Halloween, Mother's Day, and Valentine's Day posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago, and San Francisco for display at home or work or as gifts.
