Snapshots of the Past Black L Wall Art sku-13640604523

This 16" x 20" historic print depicts Manuel, a five-year-old shrimp-picker, with a mountain of child-labor oyster shells behind him. The title says he worked the previous year and did not understand English. It is Snapshots of the Past Wall Art, listed as Black in size L, SKU sku-13640604523 and UPC 462449012783.

The company restores historical maps, photos and prints from Library of Congress archives. Founded in 2001, it says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers have included over 200 bookstores and other retailers, as well as tens of thousands of online customers.

It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project in 2008. Lithography, invented in 1796, enabled inexpensive mass production of prints. The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot in 1989; it laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections concerning American cultural history.

The reproductions use fine-art and archival paper; prints made with archival paper and pigmented inks are intended to last for generations. The company's other subjects include old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco. Its retro-style posters are offered for display at home or work and as gifts.
