Snapshots of the Past Mae West Wall Art L sku-13287903206

Snapshots of the Past Wall Art in Black, size L, sku-13287903206, UPC 467802835436, is a 16" x 20" historic print of Mae West facing front, her head framed by fingers wearing several large diamond rings. The company makes home decor reproductions of historical maps, photographs and prints restored from Library of Congress archives.

Founded in 2001, it says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers and tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008.

Lithography, invented in 1796, helped make inexpensive mass-produced prints possible. The Library of Congress launched its American Memory pilot project in 1989; it laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections concerned with the complexity of American cultural heritage.

The reproductions use archival fine-art paper and pigmented inks and are described as durable enough to pass down through generations. The collection also includes old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco. The prints are suggested for display at home, in a study or at work, or as gifts.
