Snapshots of the Past Madison Wall Art L sku-13234550580

Snapshots of the Past Wall Art, sku-13234550580, UPC 468039086585, is a Black, size L reproduction print titled Historic Print, Madison, Wis., University of Wisconsin, measuring 16 x 20 inches. The company restores historical maps, photos and prints from Library of Congress archives for home decor.

Founded in 2001, it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, as well as tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008. Lithography, invented in 1796, made inexpensive mass production of prints possible.

The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; it laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections focused on the complexity of American cultural heritage.

The reproductions use fine-art and archival paper; prints made with archival paper and pigmented inks are intended to last a lifetime and be passed down. The range includes old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters, early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco, and retro-style posters for homes, studies and workplaces or as gifts.
