The company reproduces historical maps, photos and prints restored from Library of Congress archives, using fine-art and archival paper; prints made with archival paper and pigmented inks are intended to last for generations.

Founded in 2001, it says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, as well as tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the 2008 White House redecoration project. Lithography, invented in 1796, enabled inexpensive mass production of prints.

The Library of Congress launched its American Memory pilot in 1989, laying the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections concerning American cultural history.

The company's retro posters include holiday images and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco; they can be displayed at home, in a study or at work, or given as gifts.
