No rating yet(0 ratings)Snapshots of the Past Wall Art: a Black, size L reproduction of a 1913 photo of Haskell Institute in Lawrence, KS, measuring 7 inches wide by 36 inches long. The company restores historical maps, photos and prints from Library of Congress archives, using archival paper and pigmented inks intended to last for generations.
Founded in 2001, it says it was the first to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproductions. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, plus tens of thousands of online customers. It was selected as a vendor for the 2008 White House redecoration project. Lithography, invented in 1796, made inexpensive mass-produced prints possible.
The Library's American Memory pilot began in 1989 and laid the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections on American cultural history. The range also includes old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco for display at home or work or as gifts.
