Snapshots of the Past Wall Art L | sku-13635058907

Snapshots of the Past Wall Art, size L, Black, sku-13635058907, UPC 466958787026. This 16" x 20" historic print shows Freddie Reed at Kibbe's Candy Factory. The caption identifies him as 14 years old and lists Hayden St. It says he had been working a few months, left school this year as soon as he reached the legal work age, and was earning $4.00.

The print reproduces an image from the Library of Congress archives using archival paper and pigmented inks. Snapshots of the Past was founded in 2001 and says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as fine-art reproduction prints.

Its buyers have included over 200 bookstores and other retailers, as well as tens of thousands of online customers; it was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project in 2008. Lithography, a method that enabled inexpensive mass production of prints, was invented in 1796.

The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989, laying the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 to digitize selected collections on American cultural history. The company's reproductions include historical maps, photographs and posters for display at home or work or as gifts.
