Snapshots of the Past Print Wall Art L sku-13242851251

Snapshots of the Past Wall Art in Black, size L, SKU sku-13242851251, UPC 469126680723. This 16" x 20" historic print depicts the Johnstown Flood, 1889: Masonic Headquarters #25. The company's reproductions draw on historical maps, photos, and prints restored from the Library of Congress archives.

Founded in 2001, Snapshots of the Past was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, as well as tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008.

Lithography, invented in 1796, made inexpensive mass production of prints possible. The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; that project laid the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections concerning American cultural heritage.

The reproductions use fine-art archival paper and pigmented inks intended to last for generations. The range includes old Halloween, Mother's Day, and Valentine's Day posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago, and San Francisco.
