Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, as well as tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008. The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989, laying the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections on American cultural history. The reproductions use fine-art archival paper and pigmented inks intended to last for generations.
