It measures 16" x 20" and is listed as size L. Snapshots of the Past restores historical maps, photographs, and prints from Library of Congress archives for home, study, or workplace display and as gifts.
Founded in 2001, it says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, as well as tens of thousands of online customers. The company was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project in 2008.
Lithography was invented in 1796 and helped make inexpensive mass-produced prints possible. The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; it laid the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 to digitize selected collections concerning American cultural heritage.
The reproductions use archival paper and pigmented inks intended to last for generations. The range also includes old Halloween, Mother's Day, and Valentine's Day posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago, and San Francisco. UPC 462721994189; SKU sku-13215701124.
