The company, founded in 2001, was the first to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project in 2008.

The prints use archival paper and pigmented inks and are intended to last for generations. The company's collection also includes historical maps, photographs, old holiday posters and early aerial views of cities such as Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco. Lithography, invented in 1796, enabled inexpensive mass production of prints.

The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; the National Digital Library Program followed in 1995 to digitize selected collections concerning American cultural heritage. The prints can be displayed at home or at work or given as gifts.
