Snapshots of the Past Wall Art L | sku-13268219622

Snapshots of the Past Wall Art is a Black, size L historical print measuring 16" x 20", titled "Jm. B. Payne, Moreven Thompson, Secty. Houston, Senator Saulsbury" (sku-13268219622; UPC 468031391991). The company restores historical maps, photographs and prints from Library of Congress archives for reproduction on fine-art and archival paper with pigmented inks.

Founded in 2001, Snapshots of the Past says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers have included over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of online customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project in 2008.

Lithography, invented in 1796, helped make mass-produced prints inexpensive. The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot in 1989; it laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 to digitize selected collections about American cultural heritage.

The company's reproductions include old holiday posters and early aerial city views for display at home or work or as gifts.
