Snapshots of the Past L Wall Art Print sku-13486808122

This 18" x 24" historic print shows Japanese boys taking showers on a hot day at the Fresno, California, Assembly Center. It is Black, size L Wall Art from Snapshots of the Past. The company makes reproductions of historical maps, photos and prints restored from Library of Congress archives.

Founded in 2001, it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, as well as tens of thousands of internet customers. The company was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008.

Lithography, invented in 1796, enabled inexpensive mass production of prints. In 1989, the Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project, which laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program launched in 1995. That program digitizes selected collections emphasizing the complexity of American cultural heritage.

The reproductions use fine-art and archival papers and pigmented inks, intended to last for generations. The collection also includes old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters, early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco, and retro-style posters for homes, studies or workplaces.
