Founded in 2001, Snapshots of the Past says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008.

Lithography, invented in 1796, helped make inexpensive mass production of poster prints possible. A 1989 Library of Congress pilot project called American Memory laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections emphasizing the complexity of American cultural history.

The reproductions use fine-art and archival paper from respected brands. Prints made with archival paper and pigmented inks are intended to last a lifetime and be passed down through generations. The range includes old Halloween, Mother's Day, and Valentine's Day posters, as well as early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago, and San Francisco.

These retro-style posters can be displayed at home, in a study, or at work, or given as gifts.
