The Library of Congress launched its American Memory pilot in 1989; the National Digital Library Program began in 1995 to digitize selected collections on American cultural history. These reproductions use fine-art archival paper and pigmented inks intended to last for generations. The range includes holiday posters and early aerial views of cities.
