This Snapshots of the Past Wall Art print depicts the interior of Fort Steadman in front of Petersburg, Va. It is a Black, size L reproduction measuring 16 x 20 inches. The company's prints draw on historical maps, photographs, and other images restored from Library of Congress archives.

Founded in 2001, Snapshots of the Past says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of online customers. The company was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008. Lithography was invented in 1796.

The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; it laid the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections focused on American cultural history. The reproductions use archival paper and pigmented inks. The range also includes old holiday posters and early aerial views of cities, intended for display or as gifts.
