Founded in 2001, the company was the first to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproductions. Its buyers have included over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the 2008 White House redecoration project. Lithography, invented in 1796, made inexpensive mass-produced poster prints possible.

The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot in 1989; that project laid the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections documenting American cultural heritage. The reproductions use fine-art and archival paper; archival paper and pigmented inks are intended to help the prints last for generations.

The range includes old holiday posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco for display at home, at work or as gifts.
