The company's background notes that lithography was invented in 1796, enabling inexpensive mass-produced prints. The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot in 1989; the National Digital Library Program followed in 1995 to digitize selected collections documenting American cultural heritage.

These reproductions use fine-art and archival paper and pigmented inks intended to last for generations. The range includes historical posters and early aerial views of cities that can be displayed at home or work or given as gifts.
