Founded in 2001, it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers have included over 200 bookstores and other retailers, as well as tens of thousands of internet customers. The company was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008.

Lithography, invented in 1796, made inexpensive mass production of prints possible. The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; it laid the foundation for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 to digitize selected collections focused on American cultural heritage.

The reproductions use fine-art archival paper and pigmented inks intended to last for generations. The collection also includes holiday posters and early aerial views of cities, for display at home or work or as gifts.
