No rating yet(0 ratings)Snapshots of the Past Wall Art, SKU sku-13264159378 and UPC 467659520462, is a Black, size L reproduction print measuring 16" x 20". It shows Harry S. Truman addressing a crowd at the United Nations in San Francisco, with military members and flags behind him. The company restores historical maps, photos and prints from the Library of Congress archives for home decor.
Founded in 2001, it says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008.
Lithography, developed in 1796, made inexpensive mass production of prints possible. The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; that project laid the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections concerning American cultural heritage.
The reproductions use fine-art and archival paper; prints made with archival paper and pigmented inks are intended to last for generations. The range includes old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco. The retro-style posters can be displayed at home or at work and given as gifts.
