Lithography was invented in 1796.

The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; it laid the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 to digitize selected collections concerning American cultural history. The brand also offers historical maps, photographs and posters for display or gifts, including holiday posters and early aerial city views.
