No rating yet(0 ratings)Snapshots of the Past sku-13291660679 (UPC 466068808710) is Black Wall Art in size L. This 16" x 20" historic print shows basement stonework in a detail drawing of the government building housing the Custom House, Post Office and Court Room at Middle Street and Exchange Street in Portland, Maine.
The company reproduces historical maps, photographs and prints restored from Library of Congress archives. Founded in 2001, it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of online customers.
It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project in 2008. Lithography, invented in 1796, enabled inexpensive mass production of prints. The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; that project laid the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections focused on American cultural heritage.
The reproductions use fine-art archival paper and pigmented inks, materials intended to help prints last for generations. The range includes old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters, as well as early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco. The prints can be displayed at home, in a study or at work, or given as gifts.
