Founded in 2001, the company says it was the first to offer Library of Congress images as fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers have included over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of online customers. It was selected as a vendor for the 2008 White House redecoration project. Lithography was invented in 1796, making inexpensive mass-produced prints possible.

The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; the National Digital Library Program began in 1995 to digitize selected collections focused on American cultural heritage. These reproductions use archival paper and pigmented inks. The company's collection also includes holiday posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco.
