Snapshots of the Past Wall Art Print L sku-13228819605

Snapshots of the Past Wall Art, SKU sku-13228819605, is a Black, size L historic print of President James Garfield measuring 16 x 20 inches. UPC: 469566324850. The company was founded in 2001 and says it was the first to offer Library of Congress images as fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, as well as tens of thousands of online customers.

It was selected as a vendor for a White House redecoration project in 2008. The prints draw on historical maps, photographs and posters from Library of Congress archives. Lithography, a printing technique that made inexpensive mass-produced posters possible, was invented in 1796.

The Library's American Memory pilot project began in 1989 and laid the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 to digitize selected collections relating to American cultural history. Reproductions use fine-art archival paper and pigmented inks intended to last for generations.

The collection includes holiday posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco; the prints can be displayed at home or work or given as gifts.
