Snapshots of the Past Wall Art L | sku-13343455275

Snapshots of the Past Wall Art, size L, sku-13343455275, UPC 469924845317, is a Black reproduction print of the Fleming Building at Walnut & Sixth Streets in Des Moines, Polk County, IA. It measures 16 x 20 inches. The company restores historical maps, photos and prints from Library of Congress archives as home decor.

Founded in 2001, it says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproductions. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the 2008 White House redecoration project.

The prints use fine-art archival paper and pigmented inks intended to last for generations. The source also describes early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco, and old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters as other display or gift options. Lithography, invented in 1796, enabled inexpensive mass production of prints.

The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; it laid the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections on American cultural heritage.
