No rating yet(0 ratings)Snapshots of the Past Wall Art in Black, size L, sku-13642314452, UPC 467334522804. This 16" x 20" historic print shows George P. McNear, Jr., president of the Toledo, Peoria and Western Railroad system, as the final witness before a profit-sharing committee in Washington, D.C., on Dec. 14. The company makes reproductions of historical maps, photographs and prints restored from Library of Congress archives. Its prints use archival paper and pigmented inks intended to last for generations. Founded in 2001, Snapshots of the Past says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers have included over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of online customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project in 2008. Lithography was invented in 1796, enabling inexpensive mass production of prints. The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot in 1989; the National Digital Library Program followed in 1995 to digitize selected collections focused on American cultural heritage. The company's other reproductions include holiday posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco for display at home or work, or as gifts.
