Snapshots of the Past Wall Art L | sku-13277358421

This Snapshots of the Past Black Wall Art print, size L, shows Enos A. Mills standing with a girl on Long's Peak and measures 16 x 20 inches. The company reproduces historical maps, photos and prints restored from Library of Congress archives, using archival paper and pigmented inks intended to last for generations.

Founded in 2001, it says it was the first to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproduction prints. Its buyers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of internet customers; it was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008. Lithography, invented in 1796, made inexpensive mass production of prints possible.

The Library of Congress started its American Memory pilot in 1989; the National Digital Library Program began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections concerned with American cultural history. The company's subjects also include old holiday posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco, for display at home or work or as gifts.
