The company reproduces historical maps, photos and prints from Library of Congress archives on archival paper with pigmented inks; the prints are intended to last for generations. Founded in 2001, it says it was the first company to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproductions.

Its customers include over 200 bookstores and other retailers, along with tens of thousands of online customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project of 2008. Lithography, invented in 1796, made inexpensive mass-produced prints possible.

The Library of Congress launched its American Memory pilot in 1989, laying the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 to digitize selected collections focused on American cultural history.

The company's other prints include old Halloween, Mother's Day and Valentine's Day posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco; it presents them as decor for homes, studies and workplaces or as gifts.
