Founded in 2001, the company says it was the first to offer Library of Congress images as museum-quality fine-art reproductions. Its buyers have included over 200 bookstores and other retailers, as well as tens of thousands of internet customers. It was selected as a vendor for the White House redecoration project in 2008.

The prints use fine-art and archival paper and pigmented inks, which are intended to last for generations. The source also mentions vintage holiday posters and early aerial views of Manhattan, Boston, Chicago and San Francisco as examples of its prints for homes, studies, workplaces or gifts. Lithography, a technique that enabled inexpensive mass-produced posters, was invented in 1796.

The Library of Congress began its American Memory pilot project in 1989; that project laid the groundwork for the National Digital Library Program, which began in 1995 and digitizes selected collections concerning American cultural history.
